Los Angeles and Santa Monica have enacted ordinances which require landlords to retrofit their apartment buildings with tucked parking, or soft story’s, but you probably know this already.

Since both municipalities have set time lines for completing this work, it is in your best interest to act quickly. As we get closer to the deadlines, contractor demand will increase, so pricing will increase.

Likewise, if you are thinking of selling, waiting is not the answer.

Check with the City of Los Angeles or City of Santa Monica for details about your building.
